Gift in Your Will

Making a legacy gift to Sakura House is a very special way for you to help ensure that the hospice can continue to provide compassionate end-of-life care for residents of Oxford County and their families. The hospice is operated by the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) Oxford Branch.

                 Legacy gifts for the hospice should be given in the name of:
                 Victorian Order of Nurses, Oxford Community Corporation,
                 and designated for Sakura House.

Gift by Will (Bequest)

A bequest is a relatively uncomplicated way to make a gift. No matter how much money you have, you can leave something to charity through a will or trust. You can leave a specific amount, specific percentage, or the remainder of your estate after other bequests and debts have been paid.

Sample Wording:

The following is a sample wording for your Will:

PERCENTAGE GIFT

“I direct my trustees to pay or transfer to Victorian Order of Nurses, Oxford Community Corporation, designated for Sakura House, ____ % of my estate.”

RESIDUAL GIFT

After paying debts and other bequests: “I direct my trustees to pay or transfer to Victorian Order of Nurses, Oxford Community Corporation, designated for Sakura House, the balance (or ___ %) of the residue of my estate.”

SPECIFIC GIFT

“I direct my trustees to pay or transfer to Victorian Order of Nurses, Oxford Community Corporation, designated for Sakura House, the sum of $ ____ (or) I direct my trustees to transfer to VON Oxford Branch, designated for Sakura House,

(identify the personal property to be given, for example 400 shares of Royal Bank stock)”

An endowment fund is an investment that is set aside for the long-term support of Sakura House. A portion or all of the annual income that the fund generates is used to support the operation of Sakura House. The remaining income, if any, is reinvested in the fund to ensure that the original capital is protected against the effects of inflation and is available for future years as required.
