Brittany’s Story

Sakura House holds an incredibly special place in my heart - my Mom, Pam, spent her final days at Sakura House in June 2014. My Mom was diagnosed with bladder cancer in late 2012 at just 42 years old. She was the proud Mom of 5 kids, an active volunteer in her community and a person with SO much love to give.

I will never forget stepping into Sakura House for the first time. It was immediately so peaceful. Even though the reason why we were there was sad, everyone smiled and made us all feel so welcome. The House itself has so much to offer for not only the patients but their families. From the delicious baked goods in the kitchen, to the peaceful spaces to spend time with your loved ones or just to take a moment to breathe. We are so incredibly blessed to have Sakura House in our community - it was the most beautiful place for my Mom to spend her final days with dignity and grace.

Sakura House continues to support people in our community through some of the most difficult times. My dedication to supporting Sakura House to ensure that the House is available for years to come has remained strong. In 2023, I had the opportunity to become a Fund Development Coordinator with Sakura House and in 2024, the Manager of Fund Development. In my role, I get the opportunity day in and day out to see the amazing place Sakura House is and meet the amazing people who support Sakura House whether it be donors, volunteers or the staff.

We will never be able to find the right words to communicate just how grateful our family is for the kindness and compassion that was shown to my Mom. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
