After ten successful Handbags for Hospice fundraisers, VON Sakura House has paused its in-person fundraiser in January 2021 and is now putting its energy into a new fundraising campaign, called Lights of Love. The Lights of Love campaign is a special opportunity to celebrate our hospice and remember loved ones during this holiday season. The Lights of Love fundraising Campaign will run from November 10th to December 10th.
Sakura House will be lit for the first-time ever on December 10th at a special virtual ceremony and stay lit until the end of January. Sakura House’s Handbags for Hospice Committee is working behind-the-scenes to light up Sakura House for patients and families with the help of the community. Many past Handbags sponsors have already shown their support for this new Lights of Love campaign. The Committee would now like to inspire the Oxford County community and beyond to get involved too.
With a minimum donation of $25 community members can remember a loved one or dedicate their donation to our hard-working front-line workers. The individual you are remembering doesn’t need to have connection with Sakura House.
Donors can share the name of their loved one and a personal message that will go on our online video tribute and on a paper lantern at the Lighting Ceremony.
Your donation will go towards the Sakura House Recovery Fund. The Sakura House Recovery Fund will help cover the increased costs due to the pandemic, such as extra nursing care, extra cleaning and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gowns, masks and gloves. It will also help recover the loss in memorial donations we experienced in the Spring, due to the changes to funerals and memorials.
Donors and community members are invited to attend the Virtual Lighting Ceremony, live on Facebook, at 6:00pm on Thursday, December 10th when the lights will be turned on.
Due to the pandemic and Covid-19 restrictions from our local health unit, we ask donors and the community to attend this event virtually on Facebook only. The lights will remain lit until the end of January, so there is lots of time for donors and community members to drive by Sakura House safely in the future.
Help us reach our Lights of Love goal of $50,000 by December 10th. Let’s remember and celebrate the lives of our loved ones.
VON Sakura House continues to operate during the coronavirus pandemic providing compassionate and professional hospice care to patients and their family members from across Oxford County. This care is made possible at no charge to patients and family members because of donors like you.
