Bereavement Support

Bereavement Support

Coping with the death of someone close to you is a struggle, but you are not alone.  VON Oxford Bereavement Support is available. We offer Individual or Group grief support, facilitated by specially trained volunteers at no charge.  VON volunteers are compassionate people who have chosen to participate as team members along with caregivers and healthcare providers.  Volunteers are trained in the Fundamentals of Hospice Palliative Care, as well as Facilitation of Bereavement Support  and receive ongoing professional education, guidance and support.

VON Caring Circle – Group Grief Support

We offer four “Caring Circle” bereavement support groups in Oxford County every month, two in Woodstock and one in Tillsonburg.  This is an open-ended group – you do not have to come to every session, or even every month.  You can drop in whenever you feel the need.

Woodstock:

  • First Wednesday of the month from 6:30pm-8pm at Sakura House in Woodstock
  • Third Thursday of the month from 10am-11:30am at Sakura House in Woodstock

Tillsonburg:

  • Second Wednesday of the month from 6:30pm-8pm at VON Oxford – 24 Brock St W (rear entrance) in Tillsonburg

One-on-One – Individual Support

Grief is as unique as the person experiencing it.  One-on-one grief support sessions are assessed and scheduled on an individual basis and are directed according to the needs of the bereaved.  To arrange an assessment for service, please contact the Coordinator of Hospice and Volunteer services.
